About This Spot

Stepping into Ross J’s Aloha Grill is like finding a little island respite tucked away amid the busy streets of Henderson. The hum here is easygoing, unpretentious—there’s a rhythm to this place that invites you to pause and settle in, whether you’re dropping by for a quick bite or lingering over a meal with friends. It carries the warmth of a familiar local haunt, where the spirit of aloha quietly threads through the inviting simplicity of its space.

The atmosphere moves at a gentle pace, matching the feel of classic Hawaiian cafés where the focus is on comfort, connection, and honest food. It’s a spot where the counter buzzes softly with friendly greetings, phone orders, and the clink of plates, creating a soundtrack that’s both lively and welcoming. This is a place that reminds you of home—like walking into your Tutu’s kitchen, where stories are shared over familiar flavors and memories are made.

Food here carries that spirit forward with heartfelt familiarity. The menu’s charm lies in humble, satisfying plates where hearty portions meet vibrant local flair. Whether it’s a bowl of spicy Korean chicken that hints at a gentle kick or a tender teriyaki roast pork, each dish offers more than just nourishment—it’s a small, delicious link to Hawaiian island life. Side dishes like kimchee or a serving of musubi offer bursts of nostalgia, making every bite feel like a little journey away from the neon lights of Nevada.

Ross J’s isn’t about glitz or trend; it’s about keeping a genuine island tradition alive, a place where the prices still feel fair and the food stays true to its roots. There’s an unspoken kindness here that lingers in the air—a kind of warm hospitality that comes from hands well-practiced in making comfort food with care. Whether you’re craving a savory katsu or the simple joy of a sun-kissed juice, the experience is quietly rich, deeply satisfying, and unmistakably aloha.

Walking into Ross J’s is like stepping off a plane in Honolulu minus the TSA pat down and the guy in front of you who brought six pineapples as carry ons. This is one of the few spots in Vegas that feels like an original Hawaiian café. Simple, comforting, and absolutely loaded with flavor. And let’s talk about prices for a second. In a city where you can pay $27 for avocado toast with a side of attitude, Ross J’s has somehow managed to keep their prices low. I honestly don’t know how they do it. Maybe they are just old school locals who believe you shouldn’t need a small loan to enjoy chicken katsu and garlic shrimp. The food? Quality every time. From the crispy mochiko chicken to the perfectly charred BBQ beef, everything screams authentic. It’s the kind of place where you leave full, happy, and maybe even humming a little Israel Kamakawiwoʻole on the way out.

This is the first time we, my wife and I, went to Ross J’s Aloha Café. We recently moved from Hilo; Hawaii and we were ONO for some Hawaiian food. We went in for breakfast and got two (PSR’s) Portuguese sausage eggs and rice plates. The lady at the front/cashier’s area, was busy answering the phone, taking phone orders, taking walk in orders, taking food out to customers and clearing/cleaning the tables, but she was very nice and welcoming. Give the lady a raise, she did it all! There was ample parking available, a good number of customers inside and coming and going, the tables were clean. The best part, the food, it was excellent!! The rice was perfect; eggs were cooked and prepared very well and the Portuguese sausage was just like back in Hawaii. We are surely coming back to Ross J’s Aloha Café for more Ono grinds…. Mahalo for bringing a part of the Islands to Henderson, Nevada.

Stopped by after dancing hula with my hula sistas. I've heard of Ross J's and glad I finally got to taste the food. I was told that they are the same owners as the Islander restaurant in The Cal 2nd Floor. The price point here is so much cheaper than others and the food is ono. I ordered the Menehune Roast Pork and Fried Noodles while my friends enjoyed their dishes. The roast pork was delicious. The Menehune plate is similar to a mini plate but to be honest, it wasn't really small. The meat was plentiful but the rice and mac salad is a smaller scoop from the regular plate. The fried noodles has a good flavor too. Overall great spot to dine at. It really reminds me of plate lunch spots in Hawaii. So Ono.

Homemade Local grindz, feels like going back to your Tutu’s or aunty’s for dinner. Price hasn’t changed much and it’s still the same as when we first started going 10+years ago. Mahalo plenty for da service!

Hands down the best macaroni salad I have ever eaten. I ordered a combo plate with Mahi, Ribeye steak, and grilled chicken, and it included white rice and Mac salad. The ribeye had teriyaki sauce (not a big fan of teriyaki) and was sliced thin. The portion of chicken was large and tasty. The Mahi was my least favorite because it tasted like something other than Mahi. But the macaroni salad was simply the best. Kudos for good service as it was quite busy at lunch. Recommended!!
